Senior English is offered for college credit through Oakland City University. Students explore and apply the different types of composition and manuscript formats as well as workplace success skills and tools for transition from school to work and/or college. Novels covered are Frankenstein and Fallen Angels.
RIGHT NOW we are covering Ancient Greek and Roman Literature. We are reading Homer's Iliad. Click on the link for audio.
Media Literacy is a block (2 regular class periods combined into one class period) in which students earn credit for Sophomore High School Language Arts and Web Design. Additionally, at the completion of the Freshman World Studies (9th Language Arts and World History) and Media Literacy, students are elgible for college credit for Speech through Oakland City University.
RIGHT NOW we are reading To Kill a Mockingbird, and in conjunction with that preparing to debate the various controversies over the book content and the themes addressed by the author Harper Lee. Technologically, we are learning the Adobe Flash program and researching the 1930s setting of the book. Presentations of the research results will be presented using Flash to prepare visual aides on February 8. Click on the link To Kill a Mockingbird for the audio.
Digidesigns has selected the theme "With These Hands" for the 2011 yearbook and several pages have already been completed. New this year is the inclusion of outside student activities and interests and the staff is soliciting ideas and pictures for this feature. Sales of the upcoming book will start soon. THERE ARE A FEW COPIES OF THE 2010 YEARBOOK still available - $45.00. If you have a picture from any of the current ND activities that you think would be a good inclusion in the yearbook, be sure to submit it for consideration. The school's athletic portion of the website is also maintained by this staff and winter sports were recently updated. |
